The Town of Hanover is partnering with regional safety stakeholders to host a community awareness event about human trafficking on March 11, 2026, aimed at helping local residents protect youth and families from exploitation.
The session is scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM at the Walkerton Community Centre in the neighboring municipality of Brockton. The event is being held in collaboration with Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) partners to address a crime that is increasingly identified as a threat to smaller communities across Canada.
This educational session is designed for parents and young people. Attendees will hear from experts and receive information on how to spot warning signs, such as predatory grooming, and how to access resources that keep vulnerable individuals safe.
Organizers aim to build community resilience by providing residents with direct information on the risks of trafficking. By engaging the public, the initiative hopes to help families identify and prevent dangerous situations before they occur.
