A 20-year-old man is facing charges after a 23-year-old was stabbed during an argument in downtown Barrie, Ontario, on March 7, 2026. The victim remains in a local hospital in serious condition following the incident.
Officers with the Barrie Police Service were patrolling Dunlop Street East when witnesses told them about the stabbing just before 2 a.m. Witnesses reported that a verbal argument outside a local bar escalated into a physical fight.
Police located the suspect about one hour after the stabbing took place. He was found near the intersection of Jeffrey Street and Grove Street East and was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was held in custody to wait for a bail hearing while the investigation into the circumstances of the fight continues.
