On March 10, 2026, students at E.B. Chandler Junior High in Amherst, Nova Scotia, are meeting with local experts to learn about future job opportunities in their home region. The school is hosting an information session to help young people understand the different career paths available right here in the community.
The event features a visit from the Cumberland Business Connector, a group that works to help the local economy grow. Members of the organization are setting up an information table from 10:50 AM to 12:30 PM to talk with students about various industries and businesses in the area.
The group is a business-led, non-profit organization focused on making the region a better place to work and live. Their goal is to show students that they can find successful careers without having to move away from their home region after they finish their education.
By bringing these business leaders directly into the school, officials hope to connect classroom lessons with real-world work.
