Environment Canada issued a high-impact rainfall warning for Owen Sound, Ontario, on March 11, 2026, as heavy rain moves through the region. Residents in the city, the Blue Mountains, and northern Grey County are being told to prepare for potential flooding because the ground is still frozen or too wet to soak up the water.

Weather officials upgraded the alert to an orange level warning at 8:49 AM on Wednesday morning. This change means the rainfall is expected to have a significant impact on the community, as the saturated ground has very little ability to absorb the incoming moisture.

Drivers are being asked to use extra caution because water is likely to pool on roads and in low-lying areas. The agency is explicitly telling people not to drive through any flooded roadways and to stay away from areas that may be underwater.

There is also a risk of washouts near local rivers, creeks, and culverts. Residents should continue to monitor weather updates throughout the day to stay informed about changing conditions in their neighbourhoods.
