A GO Transit bus with nine passengers on board rolled into a ditch in the south end of Barrie, Ontario, on March 14, 2026. The collision happened during poor weather conditions and caused a portion of Yonge Street to close while emergency crews and police attended the scene.
The Barrie Police Service confirmed that no injuries were sustained by the nine passengers or the bus driver during the rollover. The bus left the roadway and ended up on its side in the south end of the city.
Yonge Street was shut down between St. Paul’s Crescent and Lockhart Road for several hours to allow for an investigation and the removal of the vehicle. Officers identified difficult winter driving conditions as a contributing factor in the incident.
The regional transit system, which is managed by Metrolinx, provides daily bus and train trips for people travelling between Barrie and the Greater Toronto Area. Safety protocols for winter weather remain a priority for the agency as they continue to investigate the cause of the rollover.
