The Norway House Cree Nation in Manitoba has released the official results for its 2026 General Election. On March 13, 2026, the community shared the statement of votes to confirm the leaders who will manage local affairs for the upcoming term. This democratic process decides who will serve as Chief and on the Council to guide the nation’s future goals.
Leading up to this election, Larson Anderson served as the Chief of the nation. During his time in office, he oversaw major community projects such as the Kinosew Sipi Nanatawiwekamik Health Centre of Excellence. He also represented the community in discussions regarding natural resources and legal matters related to local water regulation.
To ensure the election was fair, the community established an Election Appeal Committee earlier this year. The committee members include Keith Olson, Freda Albert, Myra Saunders, Ronald Robertson, and Gayle Sinclair. Their role was to oversee the integrity of the voting process for all registered members.
The official Statement of Votes is now available for the public to review. These results are important for the community as the incoming leadership will handle future work regarding economic growth, infrastructure, and community health services.
