Residents in Hanover, Ontario, and surrounding communities are facing dangerous travel conditions today as a significant snow squall moves through the region. Environment Canada issued an orange snow squall warning early Tuesday, March 17, 2026, for Hanover, Dundalk, and Southern Grey County.
The weather agency expects the area to receive between 20 and 30 cm of snow during this event. These heavy snowfalls will be accompanied by northwesterly wind gusts reaching 70 to 80 km/h.
Forecasters warn that the combination of wind and snow will likely cause visibility to drop to near zero at times. Local officials say travel will be extremely hazardous, and residents should be prepared for possible road closures and power outages throughout the day.
The storm conditions are expected to last through the morning and afternoon. Weather conditions should begin to slowly improve by late Tuesday afternoon or evening.
