Young lawn bowlers from across Canada are competing in Hanover this week for the 2026 Canadian Youth & Junior Lawn Bowling Championships. The event runs from August 10 to 15 at the Hanover Lawn Bowling Club, bringing athletes, coaches, and families to the town.
Competition includes Under-18 and Under-25 divisions in singles and pairs events for both men and women. The tournament is organized by Bowls Canada Boulingrin, the national governing body for lawn bowls.
The Youth & Junior Championships will be delivered directly by Bowls Canada at the Hanover facility, with the club making its greens available for competition. “We appreciate the support of the Hanover Lawn Bowling Club in making their facility available for this event,” said Britany Gordon, CEO at Bowls Canada. “This championship plays an important role in the development pathway for athletes in Canada, and we are committed to delivering a positive and competitive experience for all participants.” The event was announced later than usual, and the organization says it will speed up host selection for 2027.
Winners in the Under-25 division earn the right to represent Canada internationally. The top four finishers in each division are named to Canada’s Youth Development Squad for a one-year term, creating a pathway to national team selection.
The Hanover Lawn Bowling Club has been a fixture in town since 1909 and maintains 21 greens. This week’s championship gives local residents a chance to see some of the country’s top young bowlers in action, while visitors get a taste of what Hanover has to offer.
