Health officials have reportedly introduced a new, drop-in sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing service in Neepawa to help make healthcare more accessible for the community. The service is managed by Prairie Mountain Health and allows residents to access confidential testing without needing to book an appointment.
The program includes testing for several conditions, including HIV and Hepatitis C, alongside health education. By offering a drop-in option, officials aim to remove barriers for individuals who may find it difficult to navigate appointment-based systems or schedule visits with a family doctor. Historically, these services in the region have been primarily available through scheduled appointments or specific youth-focused clinics.
The testing is currently being offered in existing health spaces while work continues on the new Neepawa Health Centre. Construction of the new facility is approximately 75 percent complete, with the building expected to be handed over to Prairie Mountain Health in 2026 and ready for patient care in late 2026 or early 2027.
