On March 16, 2026, Grey County released a report showing that local paramedics met or exceeded most emergency response targets in 2025, providing a snapshot of service reliability for residents in Hanover and surrounding communities in Ontario.
The report showed that Grey County Paramedic Services saw a nearly 9% increase in total emergency calls compared to the previous year. Despite this growth, teams hit their performance goals for the majority of call types, including sudden cardiac arrests and less urgent medical situations.
Targets for the most critical life-threatening calls and serious emergency calls were narrowly missed in 2025. According to the Ontario Ministry of Health standards, paramedics arrived on time for the highest-priority cases 58.65% of the time against a 60% goal, while other serious emergencies were met 88.78% of the time against a 90% target.
To address the rising demand across the 4,500 square-kilometre region, the Grey County Council is moving forward with a plan to build four new paramedic bases. Construction is set to begin in Feversham in 2026, with additional bases planned for Ayton and Thornbury in 2027 and Cobble Beach in 2028.
