The City of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, has released the final draft of its new land use rules for public review before they go to a final council vote to decide how property across the community can be developed and used.
People living in the city have until April 10, 2026, to share their feedback on the updated plan. The city is also hosting several drop-in sessions between March 16 and April 1, 2026, for anyone who wants to see the details and ask questions in person.
These new rules are designed to replace older zoning laws and make sure future projects better match the specific needs of different neighborhoods. The updates will impact many areas of growth, including home development and the rules for building secondary suites.
Modernizing these rules is a major goal of the 2023-2026 Strategic Plan. After the public review ends, the Fort Saskatchewan City Council will vote on whether to adopt the new regulations.
