A new shopping plaza is currently under construction on Mapleview Drive in Barrie, Ontario, and is expected to open to the community in the summer of 2026. Located just east of Essa Road, the development will be anchored by a new FreshCo grocery store. This project is intended to bring more shopping options to the rapidly growing south end of the city.
The retail site will feature several other dining and shopping businesses alongside the main grocery store. Confirmed tenants for the new plaza include Jersey Mike’s, What a Bagel, and Dollarama. These additions are designed to provide residents with more local choices within their own neighbourhood.
The City of Barrie has identified this area as a primary location for growth to support the influx of new housing in the south corridor. The development aligns with ongoing infrastructure improvements, including the widening of Mapleview Drive East. Construction is currently moving forward to meet the target opening date later this year.
