This decision follows a recent change where the region stopped collecting recycling from businesses and other non-residential properties on January 1, 2026. This move was part of a larger shift across the province to make companies more responsible for the packaging and waste they produce.
Local groups, including the Public Works Committee and a special steering committee, spent two years gathering feedback to create the final plan. Residents can expect the new guidelines to focus on better ways to sort household items and reduce the amount of garbage sent to local landfills.
