The Tillsonburg Flying School is giving a $100 credit toward future lessons to anyone who books an introductory flight this March 2026 in Tillsonburg, Ontario. This new incentive is designed to help residents get behind the controls of an airplane to see if they enjoy flying before committing to a full training program.
First-time flyers can choose a trial lesson in a two-seat Cessna 150 for $199 or a larger four-seat Cessna 172 for $249. These flights take place at the Tillsonburg Regional Airport, which operates in open airspace so pilots do not have to wait for tower permission to take off. School owner Don Huras has managed the facility since 2022 and employs six certified instructors.
This local offer arrives as Transport Canada reports a serious pilot shortage across the country, with many airlines looking for new staff. While earning a private pilot licence costs about $20,000, these trial flights offer a cheaper way to explore a potential career or hobby.
The airport was originally built during World War II and has been run by the Town of Tillsonburg since 1970. With the population of Oxford County expected to grow significantly in the coming years, the school hopes to introduce more neighbours to the aviation community.
