The Bibliothèque de Beaumont Library is starting its free, city-wide scavenger hunt in Beaumont, Alberta, from March 30 to April 26, 2026. This year’s event is themed after the Wings of Fire book series and invites people of all ages to explore the community while solving puzzles together.
Residents can participate without registering by picking up a free map at the library starting on March 30. New clues will be released every Monday and Friday at noon, and participants can track their progress using the physical map or by scanning QR codes with a mobile device at each stop.
The library is hosting special kick-off activities during spring break and has copies of the book The Dragonet Prophecy available for checkout in several formats. Those who find the most items will be entered into a draw for the grand prize, which is a LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Medieval Dragon set.
Beaumont is the largest officially bilingual municipality in the province and serves a population that has grown to 26,305 residents. In 2025, the local library saw high community engagement with nearly 159,000 items lent out to the public throughout the year.
The library is located at 5700 49 Street and is a member of the Yellowhead Regional Library system. This scavenger hunt continues a local tradition that has previously featured stories like Leviathan and Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians.
