Environment Canada has ended a weather alert for Pembroke, Ontario, as well as nearby Petawawa and Cobden. The notice was officially lifted at 6:35 PM on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, after being in place since the previous Sunday.
The alert originally began on Sunday, March 22, 2026. It warned residents to prepare for between 5 and 10 centimetres of snow and possible freezing rain, which made local roads and walkways slippery and difficult to use.
Temperatures in the area rose throughout the day on Tuesday, moving from a low of -15°C in the early morning to 1°C by the late afternoon. As the storm system moves out of the region, skies are clearing and travel conditions are returning to normal.
The Pembroke area is part of a snow belt, which often leads to more heavy snow than other nearby regions. Local residents can now track these risks through a colour-coded alert system that uses different colours to show the severity of incoming weather.
The forecast shows milder weather for the rest of the week. Rain is expected to fall on Thursday, March 26, 2026, with a return to seasonal sunshine on Friday.
