Organizers are looking for more than 1,000 people to help run the 2026 Ontario Summer Games in Waterloo Region, Ontario, which will take place from July 30 to August 2, 2026. This major sports event will bring approximately 4,200 young athletes, coaches, and officials to the area to compete in 23 different sports.
The Waterloo Region 2026 organizing committee needs volunteers to help with athlete support, medical services, transportation, and running the games at 28 different locations. According to Explore Waterloo Region, there are also roles for general support and managing the sports venues.
The Ontario government has provided $1.6 million to help host the event, which is expected to bring over $6 million into the local economy. Allister Scorgie, the chair of the organizing committee, says the games are a “special privilege” for the community that will showcase local venues and attract thousands of tourists to the region.
One of the groups looking for extra help is Baseball Ontario, which is running two all-star tournaments for players aged 16 and under. These include a 12-team affiliate tournament and a six-team all-star tournament for girls.
People who want to help can sign up through the official website. High school students who volunteer can also use their time at the games to earn the community service hours required for their diploma.
