The Camrose Vikings U15AA hockey team has been crowned the 2026 provincial champions in Camrose, Alberta, after winning a major tournament held in their own community. The local team secured the title during the first week of the Hockey Alberta Provincial Championships, which took place from March 19 to March 22, 2026.
The Vikings acted as the host team for the competition, which featured several top youth teams from across the province. This win follows an impressive regular season where the Camrose Vikings finished in first place with a record of 29 wins, one loss, and two ties. During that time, the team scored 184 goals and allowed only 56 goals against them.
Head coach Andre Blanchette led the group of 23 players, which included three goaltenders, seven defensemen, and 13 forwards. The team was captained by Mac MacDonald, with Reid Blanchette and Addison Galenza serving as assistant captains. The local tournament was organized with the help of host chair Dale Martin.
The victory was part of a larger celebration of minor hockey, as 17 different teams were named champions in various divisions during the same weekend. According to the Alberta Elite Hockey League, the championship tournament in Camrose was one of 35 events being held in 31 different communities between March 19 and April 5, 2026.
