The City of Barrie, Ontario, will host its first-ever evening airshow performance and a fireworks display this summer as part of the 2026 Barrie Airshow. The event is set to take place along the waterfront of Kempenfelt Bay on June 13 and June 14, 2026.
The new twilight show on Saturday night will feature aircraft equipped with LED-lit fuselages and pyrotechnics on their wings. The evening will conclude with a fireworks finale at approximately 10 p.m., which replaces the city’s previously cancelled New Year’s Eve display at no extra cost to taxpayers.
The Canadian Forces Snowbirds are returning to the city for their 55th season after missing last year’s event. Other confirmed performers for the weekend include the CF-18 Hornet tactical demonstration team, the SkyHawks Parachute Team, the Northern Stars Aeroteam, and Edenvale Classics.
Pratt Homes is the presenting sponsor for the event, representing a local home builder that has operated in the community since 1890. The show was recently recognized by being added to the Top 100 Festivals and Events in Ontario list for 2026.
Festivities will begin on Friday, June 12, 2026, with a free outdoor screening of Top Gun: Maverick at Meridian Place before the flying starts on Saturday. According to City Council records, local officials increased funding to $140,000 this year to help manage the event and support the local economy.
