Residents in Colwood who use the local pool will need to make other plans for their swimming routines starting March 30, 2026. The Juan de Fuca Pool and hot tub areas at the West Shore Parks & Recreation centre are closing for three weeks to undergo annual maintenance.
The facility, located at 1767 Island Highway, is expected to remain closed through April 19, 2026. Members can look forward to the pool reopening on April 20, 2026.
While the local pool is unavailable, officials are encouraging members to keep up with their exercise routines. During the maintenance period, current memberships will be accepted at any municipal recreation centre across Greater Victoria. This includes facilities such as the Crystal Pool, Esquimalt Recreation Centre, and others in the region.
This annual closure is part of the regular upkeep for the centre, which has served as a fixture for the community for over 50 years. The facility is operated by a society that represents five municipalities, including Colwood, Langford, Metchosin, Highlands, and View Royal. This year marks a significant milestone for the organization, as it celebrates 60 years of providing recreation services to the West Shore.
