The Antigonish AA Munro Jr B Bulldogs and the Eskasoni Jr. Eagles are heading to a decisive Game 7 in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League playoffs after a hard-fought series that has kept local hockey fans on the edge of their seats.
The two teams are currently tied 3-3 in the Sid Rowe Division Final following an exciting 6-5 victory for the Eskasoni Jr. Eagles in Game 6, which took place on March 28 at the Dan K. Stevens Memorial Arena. During that game, Eskasoni forward Kendrick Marshall led his team to victory with back-to-back goals in the second period.
The final game of the series is set for Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at the Antigonish Arena. The winner of this matchup will move on to compete against the Capstone Colts in the league’s Veterans Cup Championship.
The Bulldogs, coached by Antigonish native Donnie Grant, entered the playoffs after a strong regular season where they finished first in the division with a 21-8-0-0 record. The team has maintained a reputation for excellence, having secured spots in the provincial championship final for five consecutive seasons. This consistent success includes winning the Veterans Cup three times in 2022, 2023, and 2024, alongside three consecutive Atlantic-level Don Johnson Memorial Cup titles in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
Throughout the current postseason, the Bulldogs have relied on standout play from goaltender Ethan Chisholm, who recorded impressive statistics in earlier rounds, including a 0.25 goals-against-average and a .990 save percentage. As the team prepares for Wednesday night, the community looks forward to seeing if the Bulldogs can secure another appearance in the league championship final.
