Residents of Hanover can enjoy a free swim at the local pool on Saturday, April 4, 2026. The Hanover Regional Aquatic Centre, located at 269 7th Avenue, will open its doors for a free public session from 1:15 to 2:15 PM.
The event is being sponsored by the Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch #130. By covering the standard $3.00 admission fee for swimmers, the group is providing community members with a cost-free opportunity to use the facility. The Town of Hanover Parks, Recreation and Culture Department, which operates the facility, notes that the pool features a 5-lane, 25-metre lap pool, a 76-foot waterslide, a sauna, a beach-entry wading pool, and a swirlpool with water massage jets.
The initiative highlights the importance of water safety in the community. According to the Lifesaving Society, drowning is the third-leading cause of injury-related death for Canadian children under 14 years of age. With approximately 160 people drowning in Ontario each year, the organization stresses that building basic swimming skills is essential to keeping families safe.
The Legion Ladies Auxiliary remains dedicated to supporting local programs and health initiatives. For those looking for further assistance with recreation costs, the Town of Hanover offers a fee subsidy program for residents, with additional support resources available through Grey County and Bruce County social services.
