The NWT Métis Nation Healing & Wellness Program is hosting a community Full Moon Ceremony in Hay River on Thursday, April 2, 2026. The event will take place at 6:00 PM at the Soaring Eagle Friendship Centre, located at 8 Gagnier Street.
This wellness event is free for all community members to attend, and no registration is required. Organizers will provide snacks and refreshments for those who come to participate. Participants are encouraged to bring traditional items, such as ribbon skirts, drums, and rattles, to the ceremony.
Full Moon Ceremonies are significant in Indigenous cultures, serving as a time for healing, spiritual connection, and honouring the sacred feminine through a connection with Grandmother Moon. The ceremony is part of ongoing cultural programming facilitated by the NWT Métis Nation Healing & Wellness Program, which opened a dedicated office within the friendship centre in November 2025.
Residents interested in learning more about this ceremony or other support services can connect with Rhonda Plamondon, the Healing & Wellness Support Worker for the NWT Métis Nation, at the office located inside the friendship centre. The Soaring Eagle Friendship Centre serves as a hub for various cultural and healing resources, including programs supported by the National Sixties Scoop Healing Foundation of Canada.
