A new creative group is launching today in Colwood to provide local artists and hobbyists with a relaxed space to share ideas and inspiration. The group will hold its first gathering at the Goldfinch Arts Centre on March 31, 2026, and will continue to meet every other Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
The Colwood Community Association announced the launch of the initiative, which is open to residents of all skill levels. The sessions are intended to be a supportive environment where participants can connect with one another, swap materials, and work on their creative projects.
The Arts & Culture Colwood Society, a non-profit organization that manages the centre, operates the space with the help of local volunteers. The City of Colwood leases the multi-purpose building at 170 Goldfinch Road to the society to help increase community access to the arts. This collaboration is part of a broader mission to connect the community through diverse cultural opportunities, including performing arts, visual arts, literary arts, and fine crafts.
In addition to the new creators’ group, the centre offers regular programming such as open mic nights, which take place on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. Musicians interested in the open mic events can sign in starting at 6:15 PM.
The Goldfinch Arts Centre is open to the public from Thursday through Sunday, between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM. The society also works alongside partners like the Westshore Parks & Recreation Society and local schools to develop further arts engagement in the growing community.
