The Camrose Vikings U18AA hockey team are officially the 2026 provincial champions after a successful tournament run that concluded in late March. Hockey Alberta announced the team’s achievement on March 31, 2026, following the championship tournament held in Calgary from March 26 to 29.
The Vikings, who are operated by the Camrose Minor Hockey Association, competed against top teams across the province at the event hosted by the Calgary Royals U18AA Gold. This provincial title serves as the capstone to a dominant season for the Vikings within the Alberta Elite Hockey League.
During the regular season, the team finished first in their division with a record of 24 wins, 4 losses, and 4 overtime or shootout losses, totalling 52 points. The squad showed consistency on both ends of the ice, scoring 160 goals while allowing only 69 against throughout their league play.
The championship-winning roster consists of 25 players, including two goaltenders, nine defensemen, and 14 forwards, with an average age of 17. The team was led throughout the season by head coach Jacob Kendall and team manager Scott Sveinbjornson.
This tournament was part of a larger provincial effort, with Hockey Alberta organizing 35 events across 31 communities between March 19 and April 5, 2026, to determine champions across various age categories and divisions.
