The Waterloo Regional Police Service has charged a 42-year-old Cambridge man with several offences involving child sexual abuse and exploitation material. The arrest followed a search warrant executed at a residence in Cambridge on March 30, 2026, by the service’s Cybercrime – Internet Child Exploitation Unit.
The accused faces three charges, including possession and making child sexual abuse and exploitation material, as well as voyeurism. Following his arrest, he was held in custody to await a bail hearing.
This investigation is part of the Ministry of the Solicitor General-supported Ontario Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet. This provincial initiative brings together various police agencies to combat the online abuse of children.
Recent enforcement efforts in the area have included several similar investigations. In February 2026, a province-wide crackdown led by the Ontario Provincial Police resulted in 33 arrests, including seven men from the Waterloo Region. Additionally, a separate, ongoing case involves a 36-year-old Cambridge man, Justin Garzon, who has been facing charges since his arrest in August 2025 related to child exploitation and sexual assault.
Under current federal law, which adopted the term child sexual abuse and exploitation material in October 2025, those convicted of possession offences face a maximum penalty of 10 years, while making or distributing this material carries a maximum penalty of 14 years.
