A new roadside farmstand is set to open its doors near Bashaw in early May 2026, offering residents a fresh way to access locally grown food. Located at 22174 Highway 605, Battle River Farmstand is the latest business to receive support from the Camrose County Business Start-Up Grant.
The farmstand will operate on a self-serve basis and is designed to act as a hub for the region’s agricultural community. Shoppers can expect to find fresh baking, cut flowers, and seasonal baskets, alongside a variety of goods sourced from neighbouring farmers and artisans. While a physical location opens in May, the business has already launched an online store for those looking to browse their offerings.
Operating under a philosophy of growing, buying, and supporting local, the new venture aims to create opportunities for local producers and plans to give back through various community partnerships and fundraisers. This initiative aligns with broader efforts by the county, such as the Food Artisans of Camrose County program, which connects residents with over 40 local food producers, ranging from honey farms to greenhouses.
Bashaw, a community of approximately 848 residents, serves as an agricultural hub situated near the junction of Highway 21 and Highway 53, just 10 minutes from Buffalo Lake. The support for this new farmstand comes from the county’s business development grant, which is fully allocated for 2026. According to the Camrose County economic development team, the grant program is expected to reopen for new applicants in the spring of 2027.
