The Owen Sound Attack hockey season came to an end on April 1, 2026, following a 6-1 loss to the Flint Firebirds at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. The defeat marked the end of the Western Conference quarterfinal series, resulting in a four-game sweep that eliminates the team from the playoffs.
Throughout the series, the Firebirds outscored the Attack 35-3, establishing a new record for the most lopsided playoff series in Ontario Hockey League history. Flint’s offense was led by Jacob Battaglia, who recorded 15 points over the four games, while teammate Nathan Aspinall added 13 points. In the final game, Flint capitalized on their opportunities by scoring five power-play goals.
This series marks the fourth consecutive year the Attack have been swept in the first round of the playoffs. The team has now lost 16 straight postseason games, a drought that stands as the longest in the league. Following the game, Head Coach Scott Wray and team captain Pierce Mbuyi noted a lack of cohesion and competitive intensity during the series. Wray stated that he and the team feel they let their supporters down and that improving the organization’s playoff culture is the main priority for the off-season.
The Attack now shift to off-season operations, with office hours moving to Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., beginning April 7, 2026. Fans looking ahead to next year can renew their season tickets until July 31, 2026. Additionally, the organization will host its annual barbecue on June 27, 2026, with tickets becoming available for purchase on April 27, 2026.
