The Rural Municipality of Gimli has issued a call for contractors to take on curb and crosswalk painting work across the community this summer. Local businesses interested in the project must submit their bids by noon on Friday, April 17, 2026.
The contract covers maintenance at seven locations, including curbs along 1st Avenue, Centre Street, and 7th Avenue, also known as Provincial Trunk Highway 9. Work includes repainting 29 crosswalks and applying yellow paint to curbs extending nine metres from intersections to align with Bylaw 25-0004. Additionally, the Rural Municipality of Gimli has requested the removal of previously installed Pride-coloured paint at Centre Street and 4th Avenue, as well as at the Harbour Stage, using oil-based paint to match the surrounding surface colours.
To be eligible for the contract, bidders must hold a valid business license, carry $2,000,000 in liability insurance, and maintain good standing with the Workers Compensation Board. All work is required to be finished by June 26, 2026. Interested parties can submit their quotes via MERX, email, or in person at the municipal office located at 62-2nd Avenue.
This initiative is part of a broader season of infrastructure updates in the region. The municipality has also opened a separate tender for road renewal on 6th Avenue and Ramsay Road, with those bids closing on April 10, 2026.
