Families in Steinbach, Manitoba, can look forward to the “Great Easter Egg Hunt” on April 4, 2026, hosted by the Steinbach Family Resource Centre at the Mennonite Heritage Village. The event is set to take place from 10 AM to 1 PM and aims to provide accessible, family-friendly entertainment during the spring period.
The upcoming gathering will feature an outdoor egg hunt and various activities designed for local families. This event continues a tradition of community-focused celebrations held at the 40-acre museum site, which has been a staple of the region since it was established in 1967 to preserve and share the history of Low German Mennonites in Canada.
The Steinbach Family Resource Centre, which celebrated 25 years of operation in 2024, operates as a registered charity and early childhood family centre. It provides a range of free programming, including pre- and postnatal support, as well as family and specialty classes for children up to five years old. Last year, the centre supported 664 families and currently maintains a preschool program that serves 36 families.
Jo-Ann Friesen, the visitor experience administrator at the Mennonite Heritage Village, noted that the museum remains dedicated to fostering community engagement and creating memorable experiences for all visitors. The site is a designated Manitoba Signature Museum, featuring restored historic buildings and an operational windmill that helps tell the story of local faith and culture.
