The Guelph Humane Society is calling on local animal lovers to participate in its fourth annual Happy Trails Walk-a-thon, which will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, to raise funds for animals in need in Guelph and the surrounding area.
The event, presented by Wellington Laboratories, takes place at the humane society headquarters located at 190 Hanlon Creek Blvd. Residents can register for the event online at GHSWALK.CA. On the day of the walk, check-in and breakfast begin at 8:00 a.m., with the walk getting underway at 10:00 a.m.
As a registered charity that does not receive government funding, the organization relies on community support to continue its operations. Last year, the walk-a-thon saw 284 participants, including 29 teams and over 80 dogs, raising more than $64,000. These funds are used to support the society’s ongoing work, which included assisting 3,346 animals in 2024. This work also provides a critical safety net for the community, such as the 2,279 days of no-cost emergency boarding provided that same year for pets belonging to people facing personal crises.
Wellington Laboratories has been a consistent sponsor of the event, providing significant matching gifts to boost the fundraising total. Lisa Veit has served as the executive director of the organization since 2022, overseeing the society’s long-standing mission of providing shelter, care, and adoption services to homeless, stray, and injured animals, a commitment the charity has held since its founding in 1893.
