The City of Chestermere Community Operations team is launching its annual street sweeping program, with operations beginning on April 7, 2026, to clear away winter debris and protect the local stormwater system. Residents are asked to move their vehicles off the street during their designated sweeping week to avoid a $75 fine.
The cleanup effort spans eight zones. Crews will begin by focusing on Chestermere Boulevard and other arterial roads, medians, and islands. The systematic process will then move into various residential neighbourhoods, including Kinniburgh, Rainbow Falls, West Creek, and Westmere.
Sweeping operations are set to run Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, though crews may work during the evening on major roads and in commercial areas. The city will post signs at least 24 hours before cleaning begins in any specific neighbourhood. Because the program covers more than 110 kilometres of roadway—amounting to over 220 kilometres when both directions, curbs, and gutters are included—it will take approximately nine weeks to finish the entire project.
City officials note that clearing the streets is essential for road safety and ensures that sand and other materials from the winter months do not clog the municipal stormwater drainage system. Any residents with questions about the schedule or the maintenance process can contact Community Operations at 403-207-2807.
