The Chestermere Public Library is kicking off its Chestermere in Colour community art exhibition with an opening reception on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at 105B Marina Road. The free event is open to everyone and needs no advance sign-up.
The exhibition features canvas artwork made by local residents during recent open studio sessions. Each piece explores the theme of celebration and reflects the artist’s cultural identity. The display is part of Alberta Culture Days, a province-wide festival running all September.
People can view the art from September 23 through October 21, 2026. The opening reception gives community members a chance to meet the artists behind the work and see the variety of perspectives that make up Chestermere.
This is not the library’s first time joining Alberta Culture Days. Past events have included faux stained glass painting, beadwork workshops, and soapstone carving.
The library has served Chestermere and Rocky View County since 2007 and currently operates inside City Hall. With the city’s population growing quickly, the library is planning a new space expected to open in 2028.
