The Tom Thomson Art Gallery in Owen Sound will host a biennial exhibition featuring artwork from high school students across the region starting April 18, 2026. The showcase, titled Emergence 2026, highlights the artistic development of local youth as they explore their creative identities.
The exhibition runs until June 20, 2026, at the gallery, located at 840 1st Ave W. An opening reception for the show is set for Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend the exhibition during regular gallery hours, which are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (The gallery is closed on Sundays and Mondays).
The gallery serves as a cultural hub for the community and is named after the iconic Canadian landscape artist Tom Thomson, who grew up in nearby Leith. Established in 1967, the institution houses one of the largest collections of Thomson’s work and maintains a permanent collection of over 2,600 objects spanning 150 years of Canadian art.
