Watson Lake Town Council is holding a Committee of the Whole meeting this evening, April 7, 2026, at the Council Chambers. The meeting will cover several key topics, including next steps for proposed regulations on vacant buildings and short-term accommodations, as well as a review of the town’s animal control rules.
One of the main items on the agenda is the next steps for the Vacant and Unoccupied Buildings Bylaw (2026-01), which would introduce rules for local property owners. The council will also discuss next steps for regulating short-term accommodations, such as those listed on rental platforms.
Pet owners may also want to follow the review of Animal Control Bylaw 2024-011, which could bring updates to the town’s rules around animals.
In addition to these bylaw discussions, the committee will hear a CAO Report, an AYC Quarterly Meeting Report from Mayor Hanchar, and review a proposed amendment to the town’s Fees and Charges Bylaw (2025-04). The council is also scheduled to approve nearly $197,000 in outstanding town payables.
