The Bridgewater Police Service, with assistance from the RCMP, searched for a wanted man in Bridgewater on April 6, 2026, after he was spotted at the South Shore Regional Hospital.
Latef Tag El Din, 30, has been wanted on a Canada-wide parole warrant since January 15, 2026. He is currently serving a two-year sentence for various firearms offences and for failing to comply with court orders on at least four occasions. The Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad, a specialized team that tracks down parolees who have violated their release conditions, originally issued the warrant.
Staff at the hospital notified police after identifying the man, who had been seeking medical treatment for several hours. During the investigation, officers learned that El Din had arrived at the facility in a red Dodge Caravan driven by a female. That vehicle has not been located, and police believe he may still be travelling in it.
A Bridgewater Police Service K-9 unit tracked the suspect to LaHave Street, and officers also investigated a potential sighting at the South Shore Centre. However, El Din was not located, and authorities believe he has since left the Bridgewater area.
Bridgewater Mayor David Mitchell explained that no emergency alert was issued to the public because police determined there was little to no risk to community safety. Officers confirmed that no new offences were committed in the town during the incident, and they did not believe El Din was armed at the time.
El Din is described as being 5’10” and 169 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. He has full arm sleeve tattoos, including a skull on his right forearm, the word “Money” on his right hand, “Building” on his left hand, and a symbol on his neck. He is known to travel frequently between locations in Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Alberta.
