Barrie police are looking for the public’s help to identify a man involved in a shooting that took place in the downtown area early Sunday morning. The incident, which occurred just before 3:00 a.m. on April 5, 2026, resulted in a 30-year-old local man being sent to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries.
According to the Barrie Police Service, officers were called to the scene on Dunlop Street East, between Owen Street and Clapperton Street, following reports of an altercation outside a nightclub. The victim, who family friends have identified in a community fundraiser as Jordan, reportedly suffered life-altering injuries while attempting to defend his best friend during the encounter.
Investigators have recovered surveillance footage showing a male suspect believed to be involved in the shooting. While the area was cordoned off between Owen Street and Mulcaster Street for several hours during the police investigation, the roadway was reopened shortly before noon on Sunday.
Police are treating the shooting as an isolated incident and have stated there is no ongoing threat to public safety. As of April 6, 2026, officials confirmed the victim remains in stable condition at the hospital.
