Residents in Brantford, Ontario, can expect a mild spring weekend as sunny skies move in, though unsettled weather is set to return early next week.
According to Environment Canada, Saturday will be mainly sunny with a high of 11 C. While the afternoon will be pleasant, residents should be aware of a morning wind chill that will make it feel closer to -6 C. Temperatures are expected to climb significantly by Monday, reaching a summery 23 C, which is well above the typical seasonal high of 12 C for this time of year.
While the weekend offers a break in the weather, rain is expected to arrive on Sunday and continue into the week ahead. Currently, there are no active weather alerts for the area.
This stability follows a period of concern earlier in March 2026, when rising water levels and ice jams prompted the Grand River Conservation Authority to issue flood warnings. Although those warnings were terminated on March 16, 2026, the authority notes that water safety statements remain in place as high water levels continue to move through the watershed.
To address long-term risks, the City of Brantford is working with the conservation authority on a formal study to identify new strategies for managing ice jam flooding. The project, which held public information sessions earlier this year, aims to prevent the types of extensive infrastructure damage and residential evacuations seen during historic flood events in 2018 and 1996.
