The Pitt Meadows Museum & Archives will open the historic Hoffmann & Son Machine Shop to the public for a paranormal investigation event this May 15th, marking the first time the heritage building has been used for such a purpose.
Located at 12277 Harris Road in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, the machine shop was built in 1936 by the Austrian immigrant Hoffmann family. The site, which typically only opens during summer months, features a working forge and a collection of over 60 restored stationary engines donated to the museum by Hans Hoffmann and his sister Elfriede in 1999.
The upcoming investigation is a collaboration between the museum and Haunted History BC, an organization led by sisters Gina Armstrong and Victoria Vancek. While the museum’s website states that it no longer allows for paranormal investigations, this event represents a special arrangement between the two groups. The museum has previously acknowledged that its General Store site is considered haunted, with Haunted History BC having participated in past Museum After Dark Halloween events at the facility.
