Residents of Brandon, Manitoba, can look forward to a series of community events taking place across the city from April 16 to April 25, 2026. Organized through a collaboration between the Brandon Downtown BIZ, the Western Manitoba Regional Library, and various local partners, the programming aims to provide accessible activities for families and community members.
The week of activities begins on April 16 with a puzzle building competition held at Section 6 Brewing, located at 1126 Princess Ave. The event runs from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM, and those interested in participating can register by emailing [email protected]. There is a $50 fee for this fundraiser event.
On April 17, the library is hosting a Slime Day for children between the ages of 5 and 8. The event takes place from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the downtown branch located at 710 Rosser Ave. Families can register by calling the library at 204-727-6648 or by sending an email to [email protected]. Additionally, the library is offering Lab Lockdown escape room sessions for teams of 4 to 6 people on April 18 and April 25, starting at 10:00 AM.
The community will have the chance to engage with Mayor Jeff Fawcett during a book club discussion on April 23. The session will focus on the book Empire of AI by Karen Hao and will be held at the downtown library from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The mayor will be joined by Dr. Gautam Srivastava, a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Brandon University, to lead the conversation.
Finally, a blanket exercise event is scheduled for April 24 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Held at the Elspeth Reid Family Resource Centre at 255 9th Street, the session is being held in partnership with the Brandon Friendship Centre and the Aboriginal Wellness Center. Registration is required for this event.
