The Brandon Police Service arrested four individuals between April 14 and April 15, 2026, including a 21-year-old man who led officers on a foot chase across the city.
The pursuit began early on April 15 in the 700 block of 17th Street when officers identified the man as having an outstanding unendorsed warrant for his arrest. After he fled on foot, police conducted an extensive search and successfully apprehended him in the 1600 block of McTavish Avenue. He was taken to detention cells to be held for court.
Earlier that week on April 14, officers responded to a disturbance in the 2500 block of Victoria Avenue at 4:56 a.m. after receiving a report of an intoxicated woman banging on a truck. In total, police processed four arrests during this 24-hour period. Along with the man apprehended after the chase, three others were taken into custody on warrants. Two of those individuals were held for court appearances, while the third was released with an upcoming court date. Another individual was also arrested for breach of the peace and was released once they were sober.
These incidents occur as the community continues to navigate local crime trends. Under provincial law, police have the authority to hold intoxicated individuals, though new legislation allows for up to 72 hours of detention specifically in designated protective care centres.
