The Canadian Land Reclamation Association is bringing its 2026 Atlantic Reclamation Conference to the qplex in Quispamsis, New Brunswick, this fall. From October 7 to October 9, 2026, professionals and students will gather at the municipal facility to discuss efforts to restore damaged land and waterways.
The three-day event will feature technical presentations, student poster sessions, and exhibitor displays. Attendees will also participate in the association’s national annual general meeting and attend a national awards dinner, which recognizes significant contributions to the field of land reclamation. Anyone interested in presenting at the conference has until April 30 to submit their materials for consideration.
Organizers chose Quispamsis as the host site in part to highlight local success in ecological restoration. The conference will include field tours, with the Matthews Cove Wetland Restoration project expected to be a key point of interest for visitors. Completed in 2012, this partnership between the Town of Quispamsis and Canaport LNG transformed a former sewage lagoon into a functional wetland ecosystem.
Today, the site is a public park featuring 1 kilometre of trails that connect to the Trans Canada Trail. The area includes boardwalks, benches, and educational panels that explain the restoration process to residents who visit the park daily from dawn to dusk.
Conference organizers have arranged for special accommodations at the Quality Inn and Suites, located at 114 Millennium Drive in Quispamsis. Those attending the event can book rooms at a rate of $165 per night plus tax.
