Residents of Fort Saskatchewan are invited to help refresh the downtown area during the annual Downtown Spring Clean-Up on Friday, May 15, 2026. The volunteer event runs from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, with participants asked to meet at City Hall at 10005 102 Street to begin the day.
The city is hosting the event as part of its ongoing efforts to revitalize the downtown core. Volunteers will work in teams to clear litter from public spaces, a tradition that began in 2023. Those interested in taking part must register by May 12, 2026, by signing up at bit.ly/DowntownCleanUP.
The initiative is supported by Dow through its #PullingOurWeight program. Approximately 20 volunteers from the company will join community members to assist with the cleanup and help weigh the collected waste. All necessary supplies will be provided to participants, and a complimentary lunch will be served.
Viktoriia Yalanska, Downtown Coordinator with the City of Fort Saskatchewan Economic Development team, noted that the event serves as an opportunity for residents to show their care for the local downtown area. Previous efforts have seen significant community participation, with more than 100 volunteers collecting over 300 pounds of garbage in 2025.
