The Beausejour Consumers Co-op is inviting members and local residents to its 74th Annual General Meeting, which will take place on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Brokenhead River Community Hall in Beausejour, Manitoba. Doors will open for registration at 6:30 p.m., with the official meeting starting at 7:00 p.m.
The Beausejour Consumers Co-op, which serves over 17,000 members across Eastern Manitoba, will use the meeting to review its 2025 financial results. The agenda also includes the presentation of reports from the president and general manager, discussions on the allocation of 2025 savings, and a vote on proposed updates to the organization’s bylaws.
These proposed bylaw updates involve several administrative changes, including rewording documents for accuracy, increasing purchase requirements for members seeking to become directors, expanding the information available to members, and modifying the process for removing directors. Members interested in running for a director position must deliver their nomination forms to the administration office by April 22, 2026. For those with questions about the nomination process or the meeting, General Manager Kevin Van Den Bussche can be reached at 204-268-1805.
The co-op, which has grown from a small group of farmers in 1951 to an organization with nine locations and more than 220 employees, remains a significant part of the local economy. In the 15 years leading up to its current report, the co-op has returned more than $20 million to its membership. Additionally, the organization’s Community Support Fund has donated $195,000 to local groups since 2017 to support youth development, recreation, and community economic projects.
The upcoming meeting also follows a data security incident reported by the co-op, which was discovered on December 21, 2025. Following the formal business proceedings, the meeting will conclude with prizes and gifts for attendees.
