Beausejour Daylily Gardens will host its annual Scarecrow Fest on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. The event at the gardens on First Street North invites families to build and display scarecrows in three contest categories: Most Scariest, Most Creative, and Kids Category for ages 12 and under.
Registration is free but must be completed ahead of time by email or phone. Cash prizes will be awarded to winners in each category. The scarecrow contest has been a tradition at the gardens since at least 2021.
The two-acre park at the north entrance to Beausejour is the only official American Hemerocallis Society display garden on the Canadian prairies, recognized as the coldest such garden on the planet. Visitors can explore 600 daylily cultivars, iris, peonies, and Manitoba-hardy fruit trees while taking part in the festival.
The same day, the 2nd Annual Polkamania event runs at the Brokenhead River Community Hall at 320 Veterans Lane. The two events give Beausejour residents and visitors a busy fall Saturday.
More than 5,000 people visit the Beausejour Daylily Gardens every year. Over 40 volunteers known as Garden Angels maintain the gardens, which took root in 2002 and earned official display garden status in 2005.
