The Guelph Public Library and the Vocamus Writers Community are set to celebrate young local talent at the Teen ETCH Anthology Book Launch on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
The event, hosted at the library’s main branch at 100 Norfolk Street, marks the conclusion of the twelfth annual creative writing and cover art contest. During the launch, officials will announce the winners of this year’s competition, which invited teens in grades 7 through 12 from across Guelph and Wellington County to submit work based on the theme of Chaos.
The program emphasizes professional development for aspiring writers. Throughout the competition, finalists are paired with local author mentors from the Vocamus Writers Community, who provide feedback to help polish submissions before final judging.
A total prize fund of $3,300 is available for this year’s winners, thanks to a donation from the Kiwanis Club of Guelph. Awards include cash prizes for first, second, and third place across three grade categories, as well as a prize for the best cover art. Additionally, winners will receive supplies provided by Wyndham Art Supplies.
Meg Forestell-Page, Manager of Public Service at the library, serves as the lead contact for the program. Residents seeking further information about the upcoming launch or library services can contact the main branch at 519-824-6220.
