More than 200 job seekers gathered at the Pat Porter Active Living Centre in Steinbach, Manitoba, on April 21, 2026, to connect with local businesses during a large hiring event. Organized by the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce, the fair aimed to address strong local demand for workers, with many positions currently open in the area.
The event featured 37 local employers from a variety of industries, providing a centralized space for businesses to meet potential candidates face-to-face. Many attendees, including newcomers to the community, took advantage of the opportunity to submit job applications on the spot. Some employers reported immediate success, with at least one company identifying two promising candidates for specialized skilled labour roles.
Tessa Masi, Executive Director of the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce, noted that the event helps build meaningful connections between local employers and a growing workforce. This effort is part of the Chamber’s ongoing commitment to economic development and community integration, including through Eastman Immigrant Services, which supports the approximately 200 families who move to the region each year.
The job fair was supported by several community sponsors, including AM 1250 Radio, Country 107.7, SteinbachOnline, and MIX 96.7.
