The Province of Nova Scotia officially opened the Antigonish Community Health Clinic on April 21, 2026, marking a major effort to improve access to primary medical care in Antigonish County. Located at 44 Sears Ross Drive in Greenwold, just east of the Town of Antigonish, the new facility is designed to support more than 10,000 patients.
Construction on the site began in July 2024. The clinic began seeing patients on April 7, 2026, as several local providers moved into the space, including Antigonish Family Practice and 220 Main Street Health, along with three additional individual physicians. When the facility reaches full operational capacity on May 31, 2026, it will accommodate more than 30 healthcare professionals.
Health and Wellness Minister Michelle Thompson announced the opening, noting that the facility is part of the province’s ongoing work to provide care in modern, collaborative environments. This location is part of a broader provincial initiative featuring more than 120 health homes, a model that brings together doctors, nurse practitioners, and other care providers to offer comprehensive support.
The new Antigonish Community Health Clinic features 36 clinic rooms, as well as a family room, collaborative team rooms, and patient education areas. Once fully operational by the end of May, patients will have access to a variety of services, including virtual care options, extended operating hours, and same-day or next-day appointments. The Province of Nova Scotia operates the facility through Nova Scotia Health.
