Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory for Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, as dense conditions are creating near-zero visibility across the community and the East Channel region.
The advisory, which was issued late Sunday night, warns that visibility could be suddenly reduced at times. This is creating potentially hazardous conditions for anyone travelling, particularly along the Inuvik-Tuktoyaktuk Highway, which serves as the only road connection for the hamlet of 937 residents.
Current data from the Tuktoyaktuk airport shows the temperature at -8.1°C with 93 per cent humidity. Meteorologists expect the fog to dissipate by Monday morning, but travellers should remain cautious until conditions improve.
