Residents of Fort Saskatchewan can expect a significant shift in weather this week as temperatures climb from a frigid start to a much warmer finish. According to Environment Canada, the community will see daytime highs rise from 6°C on Monday, April 27, to 18°C by Thursday, April 30.
The week begins with cold conditions, as morning wind chill values are expected to feel as low as -16°C on Monday and -15°C on Tuesday. Overnight, residents should prepare for even colder feels-like temperatures, reaching -18°C between Monday and Tuesday. Despite these chilly starts, there are currently no cold weather alerts in effect for the area.
Following the cold start, clear and sunny skies are expected to dominate the region through Saturday, providing plenty of daylight for outdoor plans. While Monday features a high UV index of 6, Tuesday will see that level drop to a moderate 5. Friday is the only day forecasted to have a mix of sun and cloud, with temperatures expected to reach 18°C.
This week’s weather pattern continues a trend of colder-than-normal temperatures that have affected much of Alberta throughout March and April. While spring has been slower to warm up this year, forecasts indicate that a warmer and drier pattern is expected to arrive in May.
